Kias US Sales Increase by 36 in the Second Quarter of 2011

Kia Motors’ global sales increased by 21% during the last quarter - that is from April to June- compared to the same period in 2010. South Korea’s second-largest carmaker sold 621,000 units in that period, largely due to the increase in US sales.

Kia’s progress in the American market was impressive as it recorded a 67% increase in profits and 36% in sales, largely due to the surge in sales of its new Optima sedan and Sportage SUV.

Japanese manufacturers’ shortages due to the production disruption brought by the March disaster that hit Japan may also be one of the reasons for Kia’s rise according to analyst at Seoul-based Dongbu Securities’ Yim Eun Young.

But as Japanese companies recover and Kia’s market share may shrink, Young notes that this doesn’t necessarily mean that Kias sales volume will drop as well.

And he may be proven correct, as Kia has a strong new range of products and last month increased its US target for 2011. It also announced that it will begin producing the Optima at its US plant in Georgia from September.

Heidfeld gives Lotus Renault another third place finish in Malaysian Grand Prix 2011



Nick Heidfeld was second Lotus Renault podium, as he yesterday in the Petronas Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix in third place at the Sepang Circuit.

Heidfeld said: "It was fantastic for us the race and I am satisfied with the performance of the car from Melbourne." 

"Its an amazing achievement for me and the team. We earned our place on the podium a second. It was a good start for me to move to the second position from the outset and Sebastian (Vettel) challenge," said Heidfeld. 

"But there were moments in the race where we had it again and I are lucky if one or two other cars had problems. 

"In the last two rounds there was pressure from Mark, but I managed to contain. 

"It means a lot to the team that we showed the consistency of our races. We can be better and hopefully be competitive." 

Heidfeld and Petrov are fourth and fifth constructors standings with 15 points, while the Lotus Renault was fourth in the class constructor.

5. Remove the wires that go to the radiator fan and the T25 Torx screw that holds the fan on. Remove the plastic rivet on the driver’s side with a screwdriver. Remove the fan by pulling it straight up and out.
6. Remove the wire that goes to the thermostat. Use a 13-millimeter socket to remove the bolt on the upper right part of the thermostat. Use a 10-millimeter socket to remove the three bolts on the top and bottom of the thermostat.
7. Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses from the engine block. Remove the thermostat. Clean the surface where the thermostat gasket is installed so there is no gasket material remaining.
8. Install the new thermostat with the 13-millimeter bolt and the three 10-millimeter bolts. Use a new gasket when you reinstall the thermostat. Tighten the bolts to 7 lb/ft. Reinstall the radiator hoses. Reinstall the fan and the intake ducting. Top up the system with coolant.

Each cap is secure with two nuts. Remove the nuts with a wrench and lift the caps off of the crankshaft. Label the caps so you can replace them on the same rods.
5. Remove the flywheels securing bolts with a wrench. The flywheel is attached to the back of the crankshaft and secured with a number of bolts. Remove the bolts and lift the flywheel off the crankshaft.
6. Remove the vibration damper. The damper is attached to the tip of the front of the crankshaft with a single bolt. Remove the bolt with a wrench and pull the damper off the crankshaft. Remove a stubborn damper with a damper removal tool. Bolt the tool to the center of the damper and tighten the bolt in the center of the tool to draw the damper off the crankshaft.
7. Remove and label the crankshaft bearing caps. The caps secure the crankshaft to the engine block. V8 engines feature either two or four securing bolts for each cap. Remove the bolts with a wrench and lift the caps off of the crankshaft.
8. Lift the crankshaft out of the engine.
